While at Beats by Dre, Johnson was responsible for brand development, advertising, retail experience, entertainment/sports marketing and digital marketing for all global brand marketing and advertising efforts. During his time there, Beats by Dre grew from a $20 million company to a $1.1 billion global icon and category leader, becoming the No. 1 headphone in North America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, South Korea, Singapore and over 21 countries in the process.
His groundbreaking advertising and marketing campaigns for the company included Lebron James #ShowYourColor as well as commercials for the Beats Pill that featured Chris Rock and Eminem. Johnson also used “ambush marketing” and influencers to expand the Beats brand.

In his role as J Turner Research’s president, Batdorf oversees the company’s strategic growth. He has been engaged as a panelist and presenter in the industry for several years. Batdorf’s various speaking engagements include presenting in the 2009, 2010, 2012 NAA Education Conference, 2010 NAA Student Housing Conference, and participating as a panelist for the Multifamily Executive’s General Session on Concept Community for five consecutive years since 2012. He currently serves on the Houston Better Government Fund. Batdorf graduated from the Michigan State University.
