Summit Sessions Enhancing the Human Factor of Business Through Trust Leadership with Tom Geyer
"Trust is a leading indicator of performance.”
Following the J Turner Research Summit, Mindy Price chatted with Tom Geyer about his efforts to measure trust and apply it to leadership. In their conversation, Tom explains that there are three components that leaders should employ to build trust among employees and customers: clarity, autonomy, and investment. He notes that understanding these basic tenets of trust allows leaders to avoid pitfalls while increasing their understanding of their business’s reputation.
Tom also explains the difference between trust leadership and authoritative leadership. Trust leadership always keeps the three tenets at the forefront when making decisions and supports those tenets at all levels. This creates a team mentality, and he notes a massive increase in energy, production, and cooperation when teams matter to the success of a business.
Finally, Tom and Mindy assess how the multifamily industry can apply the art of trust leadership to enhance their product. Since trust contributes to the image you create through your interactions with employees and customers, they have to know you’re going to have their backs during tough times. Tom emphasizes the importance of using the three tenets of trust to enhance the human factor of the business—the emotional connection to “home.”
